The Nutcracker is a well-known and beloved holiday tradition. We are excited to provide this experience for our ballet dancers, bringing to life a beautiful full-length production and story with all the traditional characters, music, costumes, props, and scenes!
En Pointe Dance Academy ballet dancers ages 3-18 performing.
Two Performances- 2:30 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Tydings Auditorium
Younger ballet dancers- Doll Baby, Tiny Toes, and Level A, are performing in ONE of the two performances.
Older dancers in levels B, C, and D will perform in BOTH shows and are required to be in both performances to participate. Parents of older dancers are welcome to attend and enjoy watching one or both shows.
Matinee Show- December 12th at 2:30 pm
Evening Show- December 12th at 7:00 pm
*Mothers will receive a text with which show their child is dancing in for classes labeled "1/2 of class." Those labeled "whole class" will not receive a text as the whole class is assigned to that show. If you have not received a text by Wednesday, Oct. 28th, please contact our office.
If you are attending to watch a younger dancer, please be sure you know which show they are performing in before purchasing tickets. Thank you!
Tydings Auditorium is heavily booked during the month of December. We only have Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December 13th open to rent. We will be holding everything: dress rehearsals onstage and two shows on Saturday, Dec. 12th, so we can leave Sunday open for families to attend their church services. Saturday will be a busy and crazy day, but we can do it!
On the day of the shows (December 12th), please be prepared to attend a morning rehearsal at the Auditorium or have your child stay from rehearsal straight into a show (depending on the class and schedule).
Because of our limited rehearsal time at the auditorium, we will also be holding dress rehearsals at the studio during the week of Nutcracker. Classes will not be held at their normal times December 7th- 10th. Many dances overlap with other groups in telling the Nutcracker story. It will be very important for dancers to practice all together before the day of the show. They will also be practicing in costumes.
ALL DANCERS IN THE NUTCRACKER ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THESE SCHEDULED REHEARSALS THAT ARE HELD OUTSIDE OF THEIR CLASSES BOTH AT THE STUDIO AND AT THE AUDITORIUM.
Dancers arrive to dress rehearsals at the studio prepped and wearing what they would as if it were the show- ballet shoes, pink tights, nude leotard, and hair done. No make up needed for Dress Rehearsal at the studio. Dancers will be practicing in their rented costumes. All costumes are worn over the top of the dancer's own nude leotard and tights.
